In this article, we will have a brief presentation of what’s new in WordPress 4.3 & well known issues that may occur on update and possible fixes.
Named for jazz musician Billie Holiday, WordPress Version 4.3 was released to the public on August 18, 2015.
Here are some of the changes that require attention:
- PASSWORD SYSTEM IMPROVED
You will find a new password interface on the password reset screen & WordPress install screen. There will no longer be sent passwords via email, also the password reset links will expire in 24h.
- FAVICON ON DESKTOP & MOBILE
Site’s favicon on desktop and mobile can now be managed (and no theme support required).
- VISUAL & TEXT EDITOR
The content for both Visual and Text editors is escaped the same.
Finally, a great move, comments are now turned off on pages and custom post types by default. This will save us all a lot of time!
For developers, a change you might be interested in: the singular.php template follows the rules of is_singular and used for a single post, regardless of post type.
ISSUES AND FIXES
Error Notice: The called constructor method for WP_Widget is deprecated since version 4.3.0! Use __construct() instead.
If you get this error in your Dashboard, deactivate all plugins. See if the error is gone. If it is, reactivate then each plugin one by one to notice which one exactly is causing the error; once you detect it stop using it until the author announces an update.
